CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT AND ADOPTION

The school committee will rely on its professional staff to design and implement a curriculum that is consistent with the goals of the Gardner Public Schools, and that meets standards established by the state Department of Education.

The Superintendent of Schools has the authority to approve new curriculum programs and courses of study that have been thoroughly studied and support the district’s educational goals. The school committee will consider and officially adopt new programs and courses when they constitute an extensive alteration in curriculum content or methodology.

The school committee will be informed during any process that considers curriculum change. It will receive reports on changes under consideration. The school committee’s acceptance of these reports, including listings of courses of study in the high school and middle school, will constitute its adoption of the curriculum for official purposes.
