RELEASE OF PUBLIC
RECORDS
The
Gardner School Committee believes that it is in the best interest of Gardner
Public Schools (GPS), its employees and the general public to provide the
greatest possible access to information. Providing persons with information on
the affairs of the Gardner Public Schools is an essential function of a
representative government and an integral part of the routine duties of
officers and employees whose responsibility it is to provide such information.
Massachusetts statutes presume complete public access consistent with the
conduct of GPS business. The denial of public access generally is contrary to
the public interest, and only in an exceptional case may access be denied.
The
administration is charged with the responsibility to provide administrative regulation
that deals with the procedure for the release, inspection, and reproduction of
records and property of GPS in full compliance with Massachusetts statutes.
Notice of the GPS policy and regulation for such release of records will be
posted prominently in all District buildings.
