Most Colleges and Universities expect students to have had a minimum of four years in five subject areas:

English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Foreign Language.

(These classes must be College Prep. all 4 years.)

MASSACHUSETTS STATE COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY REQUIRMENTS

At least fours year of College Prep. or Honors English.

At least three years of College Prep. Mathematics (including Algebra I and II and Geometry): a fourth year is recommended.

At least three years of a College Prep. Science (2 units with lab, e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics).

At least two years of College Prep. Social Science (including one year of U.S. History).

At least two years of a single Foreign Language (3 years recommended). Students whom English is a second language may waive this requirement.

At least two years of college preparatory electives (from the subjects listed above, from the Arts and Humanities and/or Computer Science is highly recommended).

Successful completion of the MCAS

 

1.       *10 credits in U.S. History and 5 credits in World History with the class of 2009

2.       *Successful completion of the MCAS (Massachusetts Comprehension Assessment System) is    required in order to receive a High School Diploma in all Massachusetts Public Schools.

3.       Math sections A or B, 03 level classes, and Applied Science levels are not College Prep.
