The City of Gardner serves as the hub for regional activity in North Central Massachusetts. The City of Gardner is located approximately 28 miles northwest of Worcester, 55 miles west of Boston, 61 miles northeast of Springfield, and 195 miles from New York City. State Route 2 is the principal four-lane highway that runs east to west through Gardner allowing travel to Boston and New York state along the northern tier of Massachusetts. State Routes 68, 101, and 140 also dissects the City and act as north/south routes that run from Providence and Worcester to the south and New Hampshire to the north.
