About Explorer Post 357

The Beginning

Started in 1996 by Ptlm. Kevin Minns and Ptlm. Travis Valcourt, the Gardner Police Explorers have been a constant presence in the community.

Throughout the years that the post has been in existence we have seen many individuals come and go.  However, every person that has been involved in the post has left with a greater knowledge of the law enforcement field.  Most noteably, former explorers have become local police officers in the area as well as correctional officers.

Conferences & Competitions

The post has attended the 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2014 National Conferences and plans to attend many more.  In 2002, the post was able to claim the National Title for the Emergency Vehicle Operations Course.  In 2004 we were in the top 10% in the country for the Accident Reconstruction event and were awarded a certificate.  In 2006 we received a fourth place plaque for White Collar Crime.

The post also has attended the 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 Massachusetts Law Enforcement Explorer Competitions. This yearly event is hosted at various locations throughout Massachusetts.  The post competes at this event in team events as well as individual events.  Each year, the post does extremely well at this event and on average, takes home at least two medals per team in the team events and one medal yearly in the individual events.
