Dog Licenses

State Law Requires a License


Licensing your dog is an important public safety requirement. All owners or keepers of a dog 6 months or older are required by state law to license it annually.  Proof of alteration must be provided when first licensed and rabies vaccination must be current. 
 
 No licensing fee will be assessed for any dogs owned by individuals ages 70 or older.  Proof of age, such as a copy of a Driver's License or Birth Certificate must be provided.


Fees


  • Males/Females not fixed: $15.00 
  • Neutered/Spayed: $11.00 

Penalties


Late fee of $10.00 per dog after March 31st in addition to the cost of each license. A list of unlicensed dogs after March 31st will be turned over to the Animal Control Officer for collection. Any delinquent balances will be carried forward. 



How to Get a License By Mail

  1. Complete this form
  2. Send a check or money order made payable to the “City of Gardner”
  3. A self-addressed stamped envelope
  4. A copy of each dog(s) valid Rabies Certificate
  5. Proof of Neutered/Spayed
 All checks or money orders received without the proper paperwork will be returned.

If you are licensing a dog for the first time in Gardner, you cannot order online. Please visit the office located on the first floor of City Hall, 95 Pleasant Street, Room 121, during our regular office hours.
